JOURNALISM

Journalism will introduce students to journalistic principles and prepare them to assume responsibility on a student-run electronic and/or print publication. Basic techniques of online newspaper production to be covered include: interviewing, news, features, sports, editorial writing (columns and blogs), and reviews. Digital photography, video editing, and social media/marketing, also will be covered, as they apply to web publication. Successful completion of Journalism and/or teacher 64. consent serve as prerequisites for either Online Newspaper Production or Yearbook Production. Students who are interested in working for Niles West News or North Star News are encouraged to enroll in Journalism.
