A pen is like your heart.
If you're generous enough,
You'll lend it to anyone at all.
But if you're possessive enough,
You'll expect it back.
A favorite pen is like the deepest part of your heart.
If you love it enough,
You'll use it to write everything.
But if you hate it enough,
You'll use it to cross out everything.
A borrowed pen is like a borrowed heart.
If borrowed from a friend,
Be sure to return it.
If borrowed from a flame,
Be sure to be gentle.
A broken pen is like a broken heart.
If the ink isn't working,
The heart's gone cold.
If the pen isn't working,
The heart's gone weak.
A lost pen is like a lost heart.
If you can't find it,
Your heart is running away.
If you can't remember where you put it,
Your heart is wandering.
A stolen pen is like a stolen heart.
If it was taken,
Your heart is mean.
If you gave it,
Your heart is sour.
But never forget this:
Your pen is your pen.
Your heart is your heart.
And always make sure
It's returned, safe and sound.
